Mediation

What is Mediation?
Mediation is a process where the parties to a case meet with a neutral third party and attempt to resolve the issues in dispute by themselves, instead of having the dispute decided by a judge.
In some cases, Florida courts may mandate mediation before a case can proceed to trial, particularly in circuit civil cases.
While some cases are mandated to go to mediation, parties can also choose to participate in mediation voluntarily to resolve their disputes.
The cost of mediation can vary depending on the type of mediation and whether it is conducted through a court program or a private mediator.
Some programs may have fees, but some are free or offer reduced rates for parties with lower incomes.
Mediations have a high success rate, with many disputes being resolved through mediation.
